Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall operations of the golf course grounds, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standard. This role includes managing the maintenance of turf, landscaping, irrigation systems, and course facilities. The position works closely with the golf course management team to deliver an exceptional playing experience for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
• Course Maintenance and Operations:
o Plan, direct, and supervise the daily maintenance of the entire golf course, including fairways, greens, tees, bunkers, roughs, and landscaping.
o Manage and schedule mowing, fertilizing, aerating, topdressing, and pest control operations.
o Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations regarding chemical use and environmental protection.
o Manage and maintain all outdoor areas including landscaping, tennis courts, swimming pool, walking paths, and parking lots. Snow removal as well
o Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use, considering seasonal changes and weather conditions.
• Staff Management:
o Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance staff.
o Develop work schedules, delegate tasks, and ensure staff productivity and safety.
o Foster a team-oriented work environment focused on quality and efficiency.
• Budget and Resource Management:
o Develop and manage the golf course maintenance budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently.
o Purchase supplies, equipment, and materials as needed, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.
GCSAA Membership (preferred).
Pesticide applicator license (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course management or turf management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience in budget management, staff leadership, and project management.
Strong knowledge of turf management practices, including irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and disease prevention.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment and machinery.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with club management, staff, and members.
Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
$70,000 – $75,000 per year.
