Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing Director to lead our marketing department and drive Freight Farms’ brand growth. The Marketing Director will oversee the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies, work alongside and collaborate with a high-performing cross-functional team, and develop the messaging and strategy to reach current and prospective farmer-operators, enterprise customers, and non-profits to scale the business in the USA and globally. This role requires a visionary player-coach with a strategic mindset and hands-on expertise in digital and traditional marketing channels. The Marketing Director will be a member of the Company’s Leadership Team and will be responsible for developing the marketing and product management capabilities for the organization. This role will have 4-6 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Leadership:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, drive customer engagement, and boost revenue growth.
  • Lead the marketing team to create and implement campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, email, press releases, and traditional marketing.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of brand positioning, product messaging, and content marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align marketing strategies with the company’s goals and initiatives.
  • Team Management & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of marketing and inside sales professionals, ensuring productivity, growth, motivation, and quantitative results.
  • Foster a creative environment that encourages innovation, prudent risk-taking, and continuous improvement.
  • Align marketing KPIs and activities with organizational goals, ensure execution, and determine effectiveness. Course correct as necessary (agility).
  • Market Research & Data Analysis:
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to optimize decision-making.
  • Analyze marketing campaign performance, customer behavior, and ROI to optimize strategies and maximize impact.
  • Utilize data to inform strategic decisions and ensure all marketing efforts are data-driven and results-oriented.

  • Brand Management:
  • Oversee brand development and positioning to ensure consistency across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Ensure the company’s messaging, tone, and visual identity are aligned with brand standards.
  • Manage public relations efforts, including media relations, press releases, and thought leadership content.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, product, and customer service, to ensure marketing strategies align with business needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, vendors, and partners to enhance marketing efforts.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to the leadership team regarding marketing performance, goals, and future initiatives.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve key business objectives.
  • Monitor expenditures and track ROI to ensure cost-effective marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics and performance metrics to drive marketing decisions.
  • Expertise in brand management, content marketing, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to think strategically while being hands-on in execution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in agriculture, controlled environment agriculture, or related industries
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, CRM tools, and analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot).
  • Proven ability to drive marketing innovations, adapt to changing market conditions, and make a profound impact on sales results through marketing effectiveness.
