Pay Range

Hiring Range: $20.10 - $23.62 Per Hour 

Full Range: $20.10 - $27.14 Per Hour 

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other em ployees within the same job classification.

Are you passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to recovery? The Pima County Health Department is seeking a dedicated Peer Navigator to join our Community Mental Health Addiction Division. In this role, you will empower individuals to navigate harm reduction and treatment resources for substance use disorders, providing essential peer support, service navigation, and education on health and community resources.

As a Peer Navigator, you will have the opportunity to advocate for system-level improvements while collaborating with a network of community service providers, including crisis services, outpatient programs, housing resources, the justice system, first responders, and various social service agencies. Your work will play a vital role in connecting individuals to the support they need for sustained recovery and well-being.

Essential Functions:

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.   • Works with participants to set healthcare goals and collaborates with care teams to achieve goals;
  • Maintains written and/or electronic client records documenting client history, vital information, and services provided to program participants;
  • Makes presentations to community interest groups on program-related topics;
  • Assists public health professionals from the department and from the community in health navigation and reducing disparities in the community;
  • Refers to internal or external case management services when other issues are identified (i.e., hunger issues, domestic violence issues, etc.);
  • Acts as a department representative and subject matter expert to assigned program(s);
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships and coordinates program activities with various stakeholders;
  • Assists with program reports as required by Program Manager or funders;
  • Assists with the development and dissemination of public information specific to assigned programs;
  • Assists in program evaluation activities such as conducting surveys, facilitating focus groups, hosting stakeholder meetings, and gathering data;
  • Communicates and effectively interacts with people of diverse and complex cultures.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in healthcare administration, public health, public or business administration or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of experience providing administrative support for a program or specialized work unit.

(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR:

Three years of experience with Pima County in a Public Health Program Specialist, Community Health Worker, Health Educator I or II, or other closely-related role as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications : (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

  • Possess an AHCCCS-recognized Peer Support Employment Training certification or equivalent training, that meets the requirements to receive specialized training.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working at a behavioral health or harm reduction agency conducting case management, peer support, harm reduction, or outreach. 
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with documentation of services and reporting grant deliverables. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working collaboratively with community and multisectoral partners displaying strong partnership building skills.
