Safety Manager

📍 Stockton , CA

💲 $125,000 – $150,000 + Bonuses

Overview:

Our Client, a well-established construction materials company, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and oversee health and safety programs across their California operations. This position is ideal for a proactive leader with deep knowledge of MSHA regulations and a proven track record in managing claims from initial reporting through final resolution . You’ll play a vital role in shaping a culture where safety is embedded into daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs that reduce incidents and align with company goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA , OSHA , DOT , and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Take full ownership of incident and claims management , including reporting, investigation, communication with insurers, follow-ups, and documentation.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess risk, implement safety improvements, and support field teams.
  • Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and manage workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto claims, working closely with internal and external partners.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs tailored to various teams and work environments.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and represent the company in relevant industry associations or committees.
  • Oversee audits and inspections, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and support safety team members while partnering with operations leadership to ensure safety goals align with business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial or construction safety, with a strong focus on MSHA compliance .
  • Demonstrated experience handling claims from start to finish —including reporting, coordination with adjusters, and resolution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety management systems and behavior-based safety programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of using digital safety reporting tools.
  • Clear and confident communicator with excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout California.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in health & safety roles within the construction materials or heavy civil industry.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, SMS).
  • Experience leading ICAM or similar root cause analysis investigations.
  • Familiarity with insurance and financial aspects of safety programs, including loss control.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
