Position Title:

Stitcher Intern

Department:

Costume Department - Costume Shop

Position Summary:

Being a part of the Costume Shop means working under the Costume Shop Supervisor to bring the Costume Design to life on stage in the middle of the gorgeous red rocks of Padre Canyon.

Our stitchers are responsible for completing all the costume alterations they are assigned so that all costumes have the fit and function desired. As a stitcher Intern you are a valuable part of the team, but it is understood that you may still be learning and in the beginning stages of your costume construction journey

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated basic sewing skills, from machine to hand sewing techniques
• Able to use basic costume shop equipment including domestic sewing machines, sergers, steam irons, and cutting tools
• Able to use, or willing to learn, shop equipment including industrial sewing machines, coverlocks, blind hemmer, etc.
• Ability to collaborate with the costume team to efficiently complete assigned projects
• Willingness to learn skills you may be unfamiliar with
• Ability to lift 20 lbs
• Ability to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times

• Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete the assigned tasks

• Clean and maintain all spaces daily
• Ability to work outside in a desert climate (though our build facilities are located indoors)

Required Qualifications:

• In college OR No Degree/professional experience
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment

Bonus Qualifications:

• Knowledge of theatrical construction and quick rigging techniques

Position Contract Dates:

04/21/25 - 06/13/25 and 05/26/25 - 07/18/25

Pay:

$16.00 /hour

The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, Newsies
