Department Information The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities. Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management. We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees. Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community. Key components of our department include: Student Leadership Development: We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board. Event Management: Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution. Collaboration and Engagement: We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college. Job Summary Create video content, provide creative direction, and oversee all aspects of video production consistent with program objectives. Activities range from research, development, treatment writing, story-boarding, budgeting, scripting, scheduling, lighting, editing, music selection, graphics creation, post-production special effects, talent selection, and duplication. This position will interact on a consistent basis with faculty, staff, vendors, and external audiences. This position typically will advise and counsel production participants. Responsibilities Job Duty 1: Collaborate with stakeholders and campus clients to create a concept into a script or event for production; may prepare production proposals. Job Duty 2: Use creative discretion to oversee pre-production to include but not limited to scripting, location scouting, and talent search. Job Duty 3: Determine key deliverable dates and provide estimation of costs. Job Duty 4: Oversee execution of video productions determining techniques used to set up camera and lighting. Job Duty 5: Responsible for video and sound editing, special effects, and graphics editing. Job Duty 6: Remain current with trends and developments in video technology and markets. Job Duty 7: Maintain existing video library and coordinate use of the production studio/control room/analog edit-duplication room. Maintain equipment and report problems. Job Duty 8: Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements: Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Experience: Four to five years of job-related experience. Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Preferred Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Video Production, Communications, English or related field. Specialized skills preferred: Skills and knowledge in relation to still photography and the differences in production (lighting, post-production, etc.) and equipment preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS: This job requires working knowledge in all areas of video production with emphasis on non-linear editing, unassisted camera operation and direction, and use of specialized equipment and computer applications devoted to video production and editing. Application of creativity and skills in organization, writing, copy editing, and customer service are also required. Familiarity with video editing and effects software required.
